Franco Serblin Accordo Essence – Franco Serblin was born in 1939 and sadly passed away in 2013 but as a keen audiophile and entrepreneur was best known for forming Sonus Faber in 1983 and creating many stunning speaker designs which were always considered beautiful in design but also extremely musical and natural in presentation. In 2006, after 33 years at Sonus Faber, he left to pursue starting a speaker company in his own name designing even more beautiful speakers which take you straight to the heart of the emotion of music, we are privileged to have Franco Serblin’s speakers on demo at HiFi Lounge so please come in for a listen to find out why Franco’s work is so loved by some many all over the world and to admire the stunning design.
The birth of Accordo Essence
The chord is one of the foundations of music, essential for the tuning of a musical instrument. If we consider a large orchestra, a single instrument or a piece of music, without preconceptions, there is a chord at the base of it all.
Voicing a speaker involves the tuning and harmonising of the different parts into something uniquely expressive and coherent: from the drivers to the crossover parts, from the cabinet to its support, the singularity of each element blends into a whole, a presence capable of giving to listeners the “quality of illusion”.
Harmony
Is the result of the need to blend in a single loudspeaker the knowledge and the love for wood with the passion for the research.
It is this sense of true harmony that overwhelms us when these elements combine in perfect balance.

- Geometry: 3 way floorstanding vented box loudspeaker
- Cabinet: Super – rigid, arch – shaped solid wood structure, decoupled with aluminium – magnesium parts to obtain resonance control. Hand – crafted by master artisans.
- Tweeter: 29mm silk – dome by Ragnar Lian, one of the greatest masters among transducer designer. An ongoing project for 30 years
- Mid – woofer: legendary, custom made,150 mm microspheres cone, optimized for the best control of cone break – up. Symmetrical drive motor system.
- Woofer: 180 mm microspheres cone, aluminium dust cap.
- Cross – over: Phase coherent finalized to achieve precise soundstaging, focus and depth of image. Selected premium parts. The electrical cross – over provides completely phase accurate transitions between drivers to preserve the recordings spatial information.
