Computer Audio Design USB Cables on Demo, If you use USB you need to hear these!

Hi All,

Last week Wendy and myself had the week off and the first day of our holiday was spent comparing DAC’s and USB cables for our system at home and I have to say the biggest difference was when we installed the Computer Audio Design USB Cables from our Melco to our DAC, at the time I couldn’t believe my ears so did a quick social post only to get told that ‘there must be something wrong with my system if a USB cable made a difference’ to ‘I am not helping myself being taken seriously if I am telling people a USB cable makes a difference’, all of this I found quite amusing really as these are the kind of comments cable discussions can generate but for me the only thing that matters is to use your ears and if you can hear a difference then it can be justified, I just find it funny that people still believe that digital music is just 1’s and 0’s when there is so much more to it than that, this is the fun of HiFi, every single part of the chain will have an influence, even in the digital domain.

Firstly we tried the £650 CAD USB I cable and that really did make a significant difference to our previous USB cable which was no slouch but it was when we installed the £1250 CAD USB II it changed the presentation so much it was almost difficult to comprehend the difference, Wendy really was a little confused to start with but after a while everything sounded more together adding weight, texture, insight, balance and a naturalness that I haven’t heard from our home system before, it was one of those moments where we spent hours going through all our favourite songs again, in all honesty I have changed hardware in our system that has had less of an effect than this USB cable made.

Whether you are a cable believer or not I really have to say that if you love your music and do use USB then you owe it to yourself to give these cables a try as I really feel they will enhance your system substantially, I’m certainly not taking the USB II out of my home system and I have ordered another one to put in our Reference System in the shop to connect our Taiko server to our dCS Vivaldi setup as I am sure that will take that to another level again, can’t wait to try it.

Cheers,

Paul.
