Design Excellence
The X‑Power is engineered in the classic Musical Fidelity X-Series profile, featuring a single inlet and outlet configuration that prioritises purity and stability in power delivery. Its chassis is formed from a one‑piece aluminium extrusion, providing outstanding shielding against electromagnetic interference for reliable, noise‑free operation.
Advanced Surge & Overvoltage Protection
To safeguard valuable audio equipment, the X‑Power incorporates a sophisticated multi‑stage surge and overvoltage protection system, with one protection stage at the input and another at the output. These stages defend your system against surges caused by lightning strikes, grid fluctuations, or sudden electrical load changes by safely diverting excess voltage away from connected components.
High‑Performance EMI/RFI Filtering
Unwanted electromagnetic and high‑frequency interference can degrade audio clarity, adding noise and distortion. The X‑Power combats this with a bespoke EMI filter using precision‑matched chokes and capacitors, supported by a further protection stage. Its measured attenuation levels reach nearly –60 dB at 100 kHz and surpass –80 dB at 1 MHz, delivering exceptionally clean power for superior sonic performance.
Precision‑Engineered DC Blocker
DC offset on the mains can reduce transformer efficiency, introduce mechanical hum, and compromise audio quality. The X‑Power eliminates these issues through a carefully designed network of diodes and electrolytic capacitors that blocks DC components while allowing AC to pass freely. Since most amplifiers and preamps do not include DC blockers as standard, the X‑Power provides vital protection and performance enhancement for any revealing audio system.
Optimised for Sources & Amplifiers
With a 10A power rating, the X‑Power can supply clean power to multiple audio sources such as CD players, DACs, preamps, phono stages, and streamers. When used with a high‑quality unfiltered power strip, it supports around six or more typical source components, thanks to a maximum throughput of 2300W at 230V. It is advisable to keep analogue and digital source components on separate power strips, and each amplifier should be connected to its own dedicated X‑Power unit to ensure optimal performance and isolation.
