Nagra Compact Player – In 1951, Stefan Kudelski, a gifted 22-year-old engineer, developed an extremely high quality, miniature, self-contained audio recorder which he named simply the “Nagra I”. Nagra is a Polish word meaning “will record”. The interest in his invention was immediate. The Nagra II and III followed in the mid to late ‘50s revolutionizing the world of radio broadcasting, cinema and music. Nagra even made it to space with the Apollo mission.
Nagra Compact Player
Building on the success of the Nagra Streamer introduced in 2024, the Nagra Compact Player delivers a refined, all-in-one solution for high-end digital playback. By integrating a state-of-the-art D/A conversion stage directly into the unit, Nagra offers a simple, elegant, and deeply musical digital source.

High-End Digital Playback, Perfectly Compact
The Nagra Compact Player is a complete digital source, while preserving the sonic signature that made the Streamer so successful (a fluid, natural presentation with a smooth, analog-like character), thanks to the replacement of the Streamer’s digital outputs, with an advanced D/A architecture. Its sound can be described as faithful timbre reproduction, a spacious three-dimensional soundstage, deep bass extension, and powerful, effortless dynamics.
Precision Engineering, Compact Form
The chassis is compact yet substantial, precisely CNC-machined from a solid billet of aluminum. Rigid and vibration-resistant, it is engineered to Nagra’s renowned mechanical standards. Designed to be as large as necessary and no larger, the Compact Player fits effortlessly into equipment racks where space is often at a premium — an important advantage for modern high-end installations.

Carefully Chosen Technology, Optimized Performance
Given its compact size and targeted price point, Nagra’s R&D team deliberately chose not to implement the proprietary Nagra Digital Audio Module (NADM) used in the Classic DAC II and Reference DAC. Instead, extensive evaluation and listening sessions led to the selection of a high-performance DAC chipset, optimized through meticulous engineering.
To maximize performance, exceptional care has been devoted to:
The result is a level of sound quality that will surprise many listeners. Despite its compact footprint and attractive price, the Compact Player should not be underestimated.
Power Supply Options
The Compact Player is supplied with its own external power supply. For enhanced performance, it can be upgraded with the Nagra Compact PSU, a dedicated high-performance power supply with the same compact footprint. Owners of a Nagra MPS or Classic PSU (12 V) may also power the Compact Player using an optional LEMO-to-DC jack cable. For optimal performance, Nagra recommends the Compact VFS vibration control system. As with the Classic, HD, and Reference lines, effective vibration management delivers audible improvements in clarity, focus, and musical realism.
