Hi Everyone,
Hope all is well and now that the weather has taken a turn for the worse you are all enjoying being inside listening to your HiFi’s.
Well last week we had a pleasant surprise as the new Reference Rega Mercury Preamp and Solis Power Amp arrived with us for permanent demo, these were announced some time ago so it is great to finally have them at HFL to put through their paces.
I’ve only just hooked it all up and had around an hours listening but even straight out of the box you can hear the quality come through, I am using the PMC Fact.12 Signature speakers which are not the easiest speakers to drive but instantly you can hear how controlled they are showing that the Solis is a pretty potent amp, have to say it looks very impressive and weighs a tonne, it really does look and feel very serious.
As for the Mercury Preamp, it has a digital section also which is very convenient, in a minute I am going to hook up our Aurender N150 dacless streamer to it via USB to really finish the system off as so far I have only heard it running with our demo Rega Naia / Aphelion turntable and Aura phono stage which sounds superb and will pretty tough to beat to be honest.
The Mercury Preamp and Solis Power amp both come in at £6,950 each so although not cheap they do offer pretty decent value as Rega always does, I think when fully run in and people start listening to them these could prove to be a great solution for a lot of people, I’m certainly looking forward to having it running in the shop this week to get some hours on them both, if you are passing please feel free to come in for a listen.
Please find a link to Rega on our website and a few pics –
